A
history of Aloe vera
Ancient
times
Human beings have been using
Aloe vera
since the time of the Ancient Egyptians over 3500 years ago. It is
believed that they were the first to realise its many healing
powers.
The great Egyptian queen
Cleopatra
(69BC-30C) is reputed to have used Aloe as part of her beauty regime,
and Aloe is still considered an essential ingredient in many beauty
preparations. You have probably used Aloe in soap, skin
creams,
shampoos or other cosmetics - its benefits in these products are
renowned.
Aloe has a preservative effect
on human
tissue, hence its great value in cosmetics. But it was also
used
by the Ancient Egyptians as one of the ingredients in the mummification
process.
The Bible
also tells us that Christ was wrapped in Aloes when his body was
removed from the cross (John 19:39).
Alexander the Great
(356BC-323BC) valued
Aloe so highly that he conquered the island of Socotra so that he could
collect its Aloe for his army.
During his travels in the East, Marco Polo recorded the many uses of
the Aloe vera plant.
Aloe vera is still regarded as a 'First Aid Plant' because of its many
benefits for your health and vitality.
